Big Lots takes direct aim at inflation anxiety with new campaign

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Big Lots is rolling out an ad series that promises inflation-busting discounts and price-crushing deals.

To promote the company’s summer sales the retailer has enlisted actress Wendi McLendon-Covey of “The Goldbergs” and “Bridesmaids” fame to feature in new ads showing shoppers how to create a patio and backyard space envied by their neighbors.

The inaugural “Price Crush Summer Sale” just kicked off ahead of Memorial Day with 50% off patio cushions, toss pillows, stacking chairs, tables and outdoor serveware. It also includes savings of 25% to 50% Broyhill furniture, and Sealy and Serta queen and king mattresses now through June 4.

“We know inflation and gas prices are on everyone’s minds right now, and it’s important that customers know we’re here for them, as we’ve always been,” said Bruce Thorn, president and CEO of Big Lots.

McLendon-Covey’s first television ad for Big Lots – “Pati-OMG” – invites shoppers to “patio hard”  and builds on the retailer’s “Be A BIGionaire” celebrity campaign series. Previous campaigns have featured Retta from “Good Girls” and “Parks and Recreation,” “Superstar” Molly Shannon and Eric Stonestreet of “Modern Family.”
