Glasshouse Designs debuts in Chicago

CHICAGO – Interior designer Marissa Nelums has just opened her first brick-and-mortar location called Glasshouse Designs in the Southside Armour Square area of Chicago.

Nelums received a degree in fashion but soon found a passion for interior design by styling rooms for family and friends and eventually decided to open her own interior design firm.

“My degree is in fashion. I never had any intention of going into interior design, never mind starting my own company,” said Nelums, principal designer and owner, Glasshouse Designs. “Opening a brick-and-mortar location has always been a dream of mine. Despite all the roadblocks the last two years have presented, I never let go of that dream and now that the doors are officially open, I have to say, I truly am blessed.”

After beginning her interior design firm with a product line of just five pillows in 2016, she has now added accessories, furniture, dinnerware, lighting, rugs and throws.

Nelums has also completed multiple projects across the country, covering whole home design, bathroom and basement renovations and new construction.

The Atlanta Market and the High Point Market Authority recently tapped Nelums for their Influencers Tour program and her list of collaborations includes ZGallerie, Sherwin Williams, The Property Brothers and Ruggable.

“I use decorating as an outlet and poured myself into the world of interior design after my father passed,” she added. “I am proud to now have more than 81,000 dedicated followers on Instagram who look to me for both design ideas and encouragement.”
