An online-only home décor store is making its first foray into brick and mortar retailing with the opening of a new shop in Denver next week.
Kyndred, which is situated in Denver’s historic Park Hill neighborhood, is owned by husband-and-wife team Kyndra and Larry Georgeson, who run Georgeson Design + Build, a full-service interior design and contracting firm, and Kyndred Shop, an online boutique.
Kyndred, which officially opens Oct. 8, will feature curated home décor products, vintage furniture and accessories sourced and restored by Larry, as well as a variety of gifts.
Most products will be available through the online Kyndred Shop, which is known for its collection of beautiful home goods made of natural and sustainable materials and ethically sourced. However, certain products will be exclusive to the new retail store.
“Larry grew up in Park Hill and I relocated to Denver after college nearly 28 years ago, so this has always been our dream — to work together, build our brand and launch a retail location in one of our favorite neighborhoods,” said Kyndra Georgeson. “We’re so grateful for the support from our community, friends and valued clients to be able to see this vision come to life.”
For many years the couple has worked together designing and renovating residences in the Denver-metro area, providing services that range from interior design to full home remodels.
Kyndra received her degree in interior design from Kansas State University and later headed to Colorado where she founded Platinum Design Studio.
Larry Georgeson, who grew up working on DIY projects with his father, graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder and then moved to southern California to refurbish large yachts. In 1995, he met Kyndra and co-founded Catalina Trading Company, which imported reclaimed wood, furniture and accessories from Southeast Asia. In 2016, he secured his general contractor’s license to expand into a full design + build business.
In 2016, the couple founded Georgeson Design + Build to provide comprehensive interior design and general contracting services for residential properties primarily in Denver’s Central Park, Hilltop and Park Hill neighborhoods. They opened the Kyndred Shop online two years later.
The couple is guided by the belief that “a person’s home describes the places they’ve visited, people they’ve loved, moments enjoyed and absorbed, with everything woven together in a palette of personal expression.”
A second store is planned for the South Denver area in the future.
