NEW YORK — Direct-to-consumer furniture brand Burrow is entering the outdoor category with the introduction of the Relay collection, which it says is a response to customers’ needs that arose during the pandemic.
“Over the past few years and especially during the pandemic, our customers have expressed an increased desire to invest in their backyard or patio with quality, long-lasting pieces that are both easy to store and seamless to assemble,” said Stephen Kuhl, CEO and co-founder of Burrow. “With the launch of the Relay collection this month, customers can furnish their entire outdoor living space just in time for entertaining and relaxing this outdoor season.”
The modular seating and dining pieces are also designed to address the pain points associated with outdoor furnishings such as durability, flexibility and ease of assembly.
“The No. 1 frustration for consumers with outdoor furniture is that it doesn’t last,” said Kuhl. “So, we engineered the most durable outdoor furniture collection with galvanized steel frames, waterproof fabrics and quick-dry foam. Extensive customer research was key to refining the functionality and longevity of the seating and dining designs, so these pieces can be enjoyed for years to come.”
The modular styling allows consumers to buy individual chairs, a three-piece sofa or an eight-piece sectional. In addition to no-extra-tools assembly, the components lie flat when packed away, ensuring easy, off-season storage. The collection also ships free in multiple boxes.
Relay’s seating collection comes in two neutral finishes: Salt, an off-white frame with matching off-white cushions; and Shale, a darker gray frame with warm-tone gray cushions. Prices for the sofa or sectional components range from $695 to $6,395. There is also a powder-coated steel frame coffee table for $595.

The dining table and chairs are also made with powder-coated steel in the Salt and Shale hues. The table, which seats six, is $995, while the dining chairs are sold in sets of two for $495.
Another piece within the Relay collection is the Banks lounge chair, priced at $495, made with weather-resistant rope.
“Quality materials are the building blocks of any durable furniture collection, but especially when designing pieces for today’s outdoor living,” said Stephen Bowen, senior furniture designer.
“With Relay, we went through a thorough vetting process to ensure the collection was resilient in all types of weather conditions,” he said, referencing the powder-coated steel frames and quick-drying, stain-resistant cushions atop all-weather mesh seat decks. “This design allows the collection to be fully resistant to the elements, with no weak components that could compromise its integrity.”
In addition to offering the Relay collection through its online store, Burrow will feature its outdoor furniture at its Burrow House showrooms in New York, Boston, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
